Couponing--Never Settle

Just a quick post to show how much you can save with just a couple minutes of searching for coupons.

Crocs.com had a BOGO sale today PLUS a 20% off coupon just for liking them on Facebook. I picked out a cute sandal that I've been coveting since early summer but couldn't bring myself to pay full price for. My husband asked for another pair of flip-flops to wear around the house, so I found a cheap-ish pair. My total came out to around $36. At an average of $18 each, that wasn't a bad price... but...

Here's one of Po's Couponing Tips: Never settle for the obvious discounts.
- Google the site and look for more coupons.
- Take a few minutes to try ALL of them, even those that have expired (sometimes they'll still work even after their expiration date).
- Carefully monitor your total. Some coupons will cancel out other coupons, resulting in a HIGHER total. You're going for the maximum savings here.
- If the site isn't offering free shipping already, Google it! Most sites have active free shipping codes, even if they're not advertised.

So, for example, I tried adding a couple more pairs of shoes so I could experiment with a $15 of $75 coupon. But, when I tried it, it killed the 20% off coupon and actually RAISED my total. So, I removed those extra shoes and just went with my original order.

BUT, I DID find another 20% off coupon from RetailMeNot.com (one of my favorite couponing sites). Applying this discount worked even though the BOGO discount claimed it couldn't be used with any other coupons except the Facebook coupon. This knocked my total down to $31. Score!

I did have to pay a couple bucks tax, but with all the coupons and site-wide free shipping, I ended up spending $33 on $120 worth of shoes for an $87 savings. Not too shabby!
